Steel Crossfire Rankings: Evidence-Based Character Tiers

Compare characters by the job they can perform, the evidence available for their current profile, and the map or mode being tested. The rankings page separates documented statistics from community role labels and unresolved characters, so a useful shortlist never turns into an unsupported claim that one bot is officially best everywhere. Recheck current cards after balance changes and repeat the same route, range, objective, and match phase before moving a profile between roles.

Watch a direct character comparison

This creator comparison can show decisions and matchup context, but it is not an official tier list. Use it to identify tests you can repeat with current live character cards, equivalent player familiarity, and the same map objective.

What these rankings can honestly measure

A character ranking is only useful when it names the task. Bastion, Centurion, and Strato have comparatively structured community profiles in the archived evidence, including Health, Speed, Average DO, cost, weapons, and an explicitly unofficial role label. Those snapshots support side-by-side questions, but they are not official permanent balance data and Average DO should not be silently relabeled as current DPS.

The guide therefore groups decisions around jobs such as holding a contested area, reaching an objective, applying pressure at a documented range, or disengaging after a missed attack. A lower-cost character may solve one job efficiently without becoming universally stronger. A mobile character may gain value on an open route and lose it in tight cover. The live map, mode, team state, and player familiarity remain part of every comparison.

Characters with limited evidence are not punished with invented bottom placements. Roughcut has roster and gameplay context but lacks a complete structured profile in the packet. Nightreign is even more evidence-limited. Their entries explain what to inspect in the current character card and how to run the same controlled tests before promoting or demoting them. Unknown is a confidence label, not a balance verdict.

Use the final shortlist as a hypothesis. Record why each candidate fits the chosen job, what live field could invalidate the comparison, and which accessible alternative uses the same budget. A result that cannot survive one repeated match or a current-card check should not drive a permanent Shard purchase.

Start with the ranking question you can test

Choose a role, keep the conditions comparable, and use the current game card whenever an archived number or label may have changed.

The current library contains a character tier method that compares documented profiles by role and confidence. It links to detailed character pages so you can inspect the underlying fields, run the tests in the live build, and update your own shortlist after a patch.

Character ranking questions

Who is the best character in Steel Crossfire?

The available evidence does not support one universal winner. Choose a job, compare current live profiles under the same map and mode conditions, and account for player familiarity and cost.

Are these official character tiers?

No. The site is independent, the role labels are community-documented, and the tier method is an editorial comparison framework rather than an official balance statement.

Why are some characters marked with lower confidence?

Their evidence packet lacks a complete current stat, weapon, cost, or acquisition profile. Lower confidence prevents missing data from being converted into a fake weak placement.

Do higher price and Average DO mean a character is better?

No. Price is opportunity cost, and Average DO is a community field that should not automatically be treated as current DPS. Route fit, survival, range, and objective value matter too.

When should I revisit the ranking?

Repeat the affected tests after character, weapon, movement, objective, or map changes. A map update can change practical value even when the displayed Health remains unchanged.
